The Story Behind This Blog
The first article I remember writing was during an admission test for a prestigious school in Class 6. I secured the admission. Then the next big one came when I was in Class 9 in another school for the school’s science magazine. I remember the title “Life and Death of a Star”. My dad had bought me a very colourful encyclopaedia which helped me articulate it. I also began dabbling in poetry and short stories in college. But when I began working – started off in pharma sales, then in a large cooperative bank, and then a private bank (all in India) – I somehow lost the touch for almost a decade.
But then I re-modelled myself to get into a consulting domain – which I did. And for the next few years, I travelled across the world, working with global corporations and interacting with senior leaders and interesting people. That’s when I realised that I had missed out on wonderful stories and anecdotes that are worth recollecting and also sharing with others.
Now the stories are not just about my experiences and work, but about the entire thought process itself. What kind of information is useful for me and for others, and what can I do to make the topic more interesting – that was what always on my mind. This led to my writing short articles in LinkedIn. This was the time when content wasn’t even a pawn, let alone king. The stories I wrote were around process, consulting, technology and change – because that was the field I was in.
Of late, I have become fascinated about the facets of human behaviour and how they impact work and life. I am trying to find the balance between being a good colleague and a good family man. And I find that writing is what helps me with that.
